Description
Italian painting from the second half of the 16th century. Oil on canvas artwork from the Venetian school attributable to the workshop of Paolo Caliari, known as Veronese, as it is based on the master's original, now exhibited at the Thyssen Museum in Madrid (the work is not currently accompanied by an expertise, but it can be requested upon payment of the relevant additional costs). Painting of notable pictorial quality depicting the portrait of a young woman in elegant noble clothes, perhaps identifiable as Isabella Andreini, one of the most famous actresses and writers of the late Renaissance. She is holding a small book in her hand, suggesting a refined education, while a small pet dog, a symbol of loyalty, sits next to her. Scenic 18th century frame in richly carved and gilded wood, with some signs of aging. Painting already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and repainting of the color in small spots. Overall in good condition. Interior size H 97 x W 73 cm.
