Cesare Bentivoglio Ligurian painter
Cesare Bentivoglio self-taught painter, he frequented Antonio Varni and Giuseppe Sacheri at a very young age.
His favorite subjects were seascapes, landscapes, harbor views, hunting scenes, the Dolomites. For unknown reasons he has always refused to participate in the Genoese Promoters and, in general, to exhibit at any art exhibition.
His works were appreciated by the Genoese bourgeoisie and beyond.
In fact, paintings of him, purchased by foreign art dealers, reached France and England.
From an initial painting still linked to the Ligurian landscape painters, technically close to the experience of the "Gray School", he came to a much more lively use of color, in the wake of post-impressionism.
