Description
Tosa School painting, with thought to be Izumo shrine and one of the dancers being no Okuni (1578-1613). There is the impression that Okuni was an attendant and dancer at the Grand Shrine of Izumo, which happens to be the oldest Shinto shrine in Japan. The painting has a composition of mineral pigments and gold dust on Mulberry paper and bordered with silk brocade. Stylized with the combination of gold dust and an array of dramatic dancers in front of a shrine, you will also notice the symbolic pine tree imbedded in the painting. With black lacquer frame.
