Description
A scene from the Heike wars (12th century wars) showing two high ranking samurai warriors of the Genji clan, Sasaki Shiro Takatsuna and Kajiwara Genta Kagesue, racing each other on horseback across the churning water. Each hoping to be the first to reach the other shore in order to launch the attack on Yoshinaka’s garrisons. With gold flecks and gold dust creating a gold cloud effect. Mineral pigments on mulberry paper with silk brocade border and black lacquer trim.
