Bankers Red Room
-
Description
From 2005 to 2010, Townley worked in nightclubs entertaining bankers and financiers on nights out in London’s Soho into the early hours. He was completely consumed by his environment, this lead to him painting the clients he looked after.
Lincoln Townley is a contemporary British painter best known for his heavily layered, built up, surrealist Banker paintings. Townley’s figurative paintings, often portraits, depict your reasonable businessmen in an aggressive and expressive vigourous style. These passionate and intense paintings depict the dark side of financial institutions. Without using any words, Townley presents the viewer with the greed that comes with the financial world and the anonymous capitalist men behind it.
Townley's works are exhibited across the world. Selling-out Venice Biennale exhibition during 2022 and most recently selling his Dance With The Devil at Sotheby’s auction in New York for USD 378,000. -
