Oil on wood panel painting of a Worcester, Massachusetts view by local resident artist Mabel Blake. Signed M. Blake lower left. Circa 1880. Condition is good. The bucolic scene depicts a man in a boat and a second figure near a cottage in the background. In the distance is a sailboat with blue skies above. Mabel Blake was born in 1859 and died of consumption in 1891 at the age of 32. She was married to Charles Hale at the end of her life. Provenance: Osprey, Florida estate. The painting is its original gold painted over gesso and wood frame 13 by 11 inches.
