Description
Original oil on canvas painting of a young woman holding a red bird by the Russian/American artist, Nahum Tschacbasov. Signed top left and dated 1966. Excellent condition. Presently unframed. Provenance: Estate of the artist.
Nahum Tschacbasov's paintings can be found in the permanent museum collections of the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Brooklyn Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Philadelphia Museum, and many other private and public collections. Tschacbasov lived in New York for much of his adult life in the Chelsea Hotel. His one man shows included ACA Gallery (4) in the 1940's, Perl's Gallery in the late 1940's and later at John Heller Gallery in the 1950's. Tschacbasov died in 1984 at the age of 84. In 2013 a retrospective of his work was featured at the National Arts Club in New York City sponsored in part by the Russian/American foundation of New York. -
