1st Screen (Top): Kano School painting of Chokaro Sennin, a Chinese Taoist Sage, appears on the right surrounded by karako (Chinese children). Chokaro Sennin has his magic gourd from which he pours horses to the delight and celebration of the children. This screen is an illustration of a fable explaining about impossibility. Mid Edo period painting in mineral pigments on mulberry paper with a silk brocade border. 2nd Screen (Bottom): Kano School painting of horses, conjured by magic from Chokaro Sennin's gourd, frolicking in a landscape with a rushing stream. The magic horses have been spotted by men who have begun to round them up. This screen is an illustration of a fable explaining about impossibility. Mid Edo period painting in mineral pigments on mulberry paper with a silk brocade border. Can be sold separately. Measurements listed are for each screen.
