New York City in the 1980’s was a dirty dangerous place, with a city virtually bankrupt there wasn’t much money to fight crime with. So after many violent incidents on the subway people took matters into their own hands. Guardian Angels, self appointed vigilantes patrolled the streets & subways. This painting comes from the memory of time spent in New York and seeing the Angels. People were re-assured by their presence and undoubtedly were safer. Listen to Sax’s recollections, he offers a precious insight into his life & work.
