Sharon Molloy
“My work investigates how everything is interrelated and interdependent. From the atom to the cell, to the body and brain and beyond into society and the cosmos, there are underlying patterns, processes and structures that are mirrored all around us and permeate reality .... one small thing leads to another and larger patterns emerge. My paintings are explorations of inner and outer space, micro and macrocosmic scale and the relationship between nature and technology. These works embrace process, complexity, networks and interconnectivity.” Sharon Molloy
Originally from the UK Sharon has lived and worked in Upstate New York, since 2002. In 1998, she attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and then moved to New York City for a one year residency at the Sharpe Studio program in Manhattan.
She received her BFA in Fine Art in 1990 at Winchester School of Art in England and her Masters in Fine Arts in 2005 in San Francisco. Sharon has shown her work in New York City, San Francisco, and London.
Her work was included in the exhibition “To Infinity and Beyond, Mathematics in Contemporary Art” at the Heckscher Museum of Art, Huntington, NY.
Her work has been featured in various publications — such as ‘Visual Complexity, Mapping Patterns of Information’ by Manuel Lima, Seed Magazine for Arts and Science and Age of Artists, a German publication.
In 2009 she had a solo show, ‘Infra-Structure’ at Catskill Art Society, Livingston Manor, NY. More recently in 2016 she exhibited an installation of works titled ‘Worlds Within’ at Better Being in NYC, and in 2017, ‘Infinite Fields’ was installed in the Elevator Gallery, also at CAS in Livingston Manor. In 2019 ‘Line is a Force’, a new installation was shown at Gallery 222 in Hurleyville, NY.
