Description
Due to a studio re-construction, “Front Yard” was painted in a tent located in the artist’s garden. The work has the heat and haze, as well as the high key golden light that is typical of Australian east coast summertime. The composition looks through a mid-ground of rain-forest vegetation including native palms and ferns. This wetter form of flora has been planted to protect the house from bush fires. In the distance the extensive local sclerophyll forest can be seen. This is the typical Sydney eucalyptus forest where wild fires can be sparked in hotter months.
