Description
“Rain Gum” was painted after a horrific summer of bush fires which destroyed countless flora and fauna - particularly in the southeast regions of Australia where the artist lives. After months of fire emergencies accompanied by an enormous human effort to extinguish the fires, a weekend of torrential rain rain extinguished many of the fires. While the incredible weather system poured rain over the parched land, the artist observed the effects out of a window in her home. “Rain Gum” is a relieved account of a completely saturated eucalyptus tree and the surrounding landscape.
