This remarkable oil painting, created by the esteemed Italian artist Vittorio Reggianini (1858–1938), exemplifies his expertise in historical genre scenes depicting 18th-century life.

The painting captures a joyful young woman lounging on a settee, deeply engrossed in a book. Her relaxed pose and contented smile convey the tranquillity of a leisurely moment. She is elegantly dressed in a soft pastel green satin gown, embellished with intricate lace detailing along the collar, sleeves, and hem. Her outfit is further enhanced by cream-colored shoes with dainty bows and a pearl hair accessory, exuding sophistication and charm.

The scene is set within a richly decorated interior, featuring historical elements that amplify its luxurious atmosphere. A Rococo-style console table with ornate scrolling legs and a marble top is positioned nearby, accompanied by a navy porcelain vase.
