Description
The Chrysler Building may be one of the most photographed buildings in the world, yet Mitchell Funk imagines it unlike any tourist snapshot. This colorful kaleidoscope-like image was created in a pre-digital, pre-Photoshop world by taking one picture, rewinding the film, and then taking another on the same piece of 35mm emulsion. In a sense, it's a little movie in a still image. In-camera, on-the-spot multiple exposures on color film were a recurrent element in Funk's iconography. He pioneered this inventive style in 1970.
Signed, dated and numbered 2/15, lower right recto. Other sizes are available and the fine art photograph is unframed and printed later on Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta paper .
Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of "Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first "Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Brooklyn Museum, show "Images en Couleur". 1971 Included he was included in the visionary book "Frontiers of Photography" Time-Life. Color! American Photography Transformed. Amon Carter Museum. He has had more than 50 Photography Magazine Covers and has had covers on Newsweek, Fortune, New York Magazine and Life Magazine among others. -
