Description
This photogravure print was published by the Suffolk Engraving Company of Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1928. It is a copyright image after the original photograph taken in 1910 by Edward Sherriff Curtis. It is from a collection of Curtis prints by a longtime collector from Rhode Island and Vermont. Along the bottom of the portrait are the words "The Chief's Wife - Kalispel" and "From Copyright Photograph by E.S. Curtis, 1910". It is framed under glass in a large mat and plain black-painted metal frame with very slight chipping of the paint. The image is in good condition. Curtis gained his fame by photographing Native American and First Nations Canadian people in their traditional dress and activities. The photogravure is framed under glass which makes it look blurry to my camera as the camera focuses only on the surface of the glass. In person, the photogravure is fine and is not blurry; I did not remove the photogravure from its frame and glass. The image sight measurements are: 5.5"W x 9.5"H. The overall dimensions of the framed art are listed below.
