Pablo Picasso ( Spanish, 1881- 1973) Girl with a Mandolin (Fanny Tellier) Color Plate Lithograph, Hermitage Collection : This artwork is a notable example of Picasso's early Analytic Cubist period, where he deconstructed forms into geometric shapes. The art work portrays a young woman holding a mandolin, rendered in fragmented planes and muted tones, characteristic of Cubism. While the art work bears her name, specific details about Fanny Tellier's life and her relationship with Picasso remain limited. The original painting created in 1910 is part of the collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
