This beautifully formed and striking Art Deco Leaping Gazelle Sculpture in Polished Brass on Black Marble Base originates from France, Circa 1930. Featuring an open construction in gleaming polish brass depicting two leaping gazelles, one with winding horns streaming behind as it leaps into the air alongside another gazelle overlapped in the foreground of the sculpture, with two pointed ears and a downward slant to its neck. The hind legs lead down to a motif of natural leaves emerging from a beautifully dimensional rock element resting upon the minimally veined rectilinear black marble base. Beautifully polished and utilizing the soft curvatures and geometric simplicity characteristic of Art Deco design, this piece rewards prolonged viewing and is highly versatile.
