Description:
The “C-Shaped” Dragon, carved in the round from a single piece of celadon jade, is a striking example of Hongshan Culture artistry. Its body is graceful, with its tail upturned towards its porcine snout. Its horns protrude upward from its forehead, and swoop down towards its back. The eyes sit like convex beads on either side of its head, and its snout is flat with two small holes indicating nostrils. A similar work was excavated in the Inner Mongiloa Autonomous Region in 1971. See Gu Fang, The Pictorial Handbook of Ancient Chinese Jades, p. 52.
