Unique Welded Bronze Sculpture Rare Figurative Form Harry Bertoia
-
Description
A unique bronze sculpture circa 1960s by Harry Bertoia (1915-1978), the celebrated Italian-born American artist, sculptor, and designer. The welded and patinated bronze sculpture is in an abstract standing figurative form, rarely seen in the artist's repertoire. The well-balanced cubist figure, constructed with geometrical dynamic forms, radiates a primitive energy like a totem pole. The highly textured and irregular surface with intentional verdigris and oxidation is iconic to the artist's signature aesthetics.
The piece is registered in Hary Bertoia catalogue Raisonne as S.WF.4
