An original pen and ink by Barbara Macdonald 1892-1969, that was published on page 70 of the 1922 book, 'Princess Herminie and the Tapestry Prince,' written by Lee Ivatt. The second photo is how the drawing appeared in the book (please note that the book is not included within the sale and is for illustrative purposes only).
"Kits Second Adventure" Barbara Macdonald was a British painter and illustrator (two of her watercolors hung in the Royal Academy). After WW1 she moved to Australia with her Australian husband. Whilst there she was the sole illustrator of two books, these being 'A New Book of Old Rhymes' published in 1920, and 'Princess Herminie and the Tapestry Prince,' published in 1922. She also wrote and illustrated a serial 'The Epistles of Pamela,' published in Ure Smith's 'Home' from 1920-1921. Original pen and inks by Barbara Macdonald are very hard to come by. signed lower left - paper is top hinged to supporting paper. -
