    A painter of animals, scenes and of landscapes. Born in Courtrai, the 26th of May in 1826, died in Axelles on the 16th of September 1888. He was a decorator and landscape painter and his concentration turned to painting animals from 1856 onward. He visited Fontainebleau, where he was under the influence of Rosa Bonheur. He won his second medal in Munich in 1883. His works are in the museums of Bruges, Brussels, where his paintings, The Market of Livestock’s, The Stockyard of Brussels and Study of Donkeys are displayed. His works, Plow Horses, Dogs running at a Rendezvous and Cow Drinking are in the Museum of Courtrai
