Description
Rare and beautiful painted work by Fortunato Depero from 1948, Title: Horse and Stained Glass Window. Technique: Indian ink and diluted Indian ink on paper. Details: Signature top left. Work archived at the Archivio Unico for the catalogue of the Futurist works of Fortunato Depero by Maurizio Scudiero, Rovereto, as per the attached photographic documentation with the relative inventory number. Circa 1945/46. After the war ended in 1945, Depero began a series of studies and paintings with grisaille motifs of stained glass examples like those of antiquity. The horse is portrayed in a sculptural manner with sharp, vibrant lines. The stained-glass windows behind are a continuum of the horse in representation. Depero's paintings are a reflection of the futurist evolution and present a strong expressive energy through the use of colour and geometric shapes, two elements typical in the works of the second part of the art movement. His paintings are a true hymn to colour and light as we shall see in our selection.
