Description
Here for your consideration is a very well executed pastel on paper by John Fabian Carlson. Signed lower right and mostly likely done on the 1930's. Woodstock, New York was a favorite area for Carlson to paint as well as the site for his art school which he opened in 1922, The pastel has a wonderful sense of mood as dusk descends on the journey home. Newly framed and matted in two inch gold gallery frame with white mat. Overall size 21.75 by 23.75 inches.
Carlson exhibited widely during his lifetime and won numerous prizes for his paintings from the Salmagundi Club in New York, the Panama-Pacific Exposition in San Francisco, and the National Academy of Design. Additionally, he participated in annual shows at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC, and was a member of several national arts organizations. -
