Waiter Dancing and Strutting on a Ship, Possible Madeline sighting
-
Description
As usual, Bemelmans delivers a charming moment. We see a happy-go-lucky waiter balancing a tray of food high above his head. He struts and dances down a ship's hallway as on-lookers delight in his little jig. A bridge and town are visible in the upper right. There is a possible Madeline sighting to the left of the waiter. This work is a deceptively great Bemelmans because it evokes the artist's unique brand of wit and charm. It's simple work but packed with charm, wit and big on concept.
Not all of the artist's work rises to this level. Initialed lower right LB.
Framed under acrylic. Framed Dimensions 20.5 X 17 Inches. Some light fading, buckling and Moderate mat burn otherwise present quite well for a Bemelmans - Framed under acrylic -
