This is a powerful and intriguing diptych ink on kyro board paper by Chinese and French ink artist T’ang Haywen, untitled and unsigned, circa 1975. It’s been framed with a black frame and anti-UV glass. The diptych size is Height 27.55 inches x Width 39.35 inches, and the frame size is Height 35.05 inches x Width 46.85 inches.
T’ang Haywen was a Chinese and French artist born in 1927, Xiamen, China. He is noted for his mastering of the ancient techniques of Chinese ink-brush painting. Since his death in 1991, T’ang’s work has been widely exhibited including a travelling retrospective at the Oceanography Museum of Monaco, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Singapore Museum of Art, Museum of East Asian Art Berlin, the Ashmolean Museum Oxford and the Taipei Fine Arts Museum Taiwan. In 2002, a solo exhibition of his works was held at the Musée Guimet Paris and at the Shiseido Foundation Tokyo. -
