Description
Original collage composed of realistic graphite drawing on old nautical chart of a large sailboat. Signed lower right and dated 1993. Condition is very good. The sailboat is centered over Block Island. Overall framed in a natural beechwood frame. Overall framed measurements are 22 by 22 inches. Provenance: A Southampton, New York collector.
Elkins is an established Bridgehampton, New York artist who has been working professionally since the late 1970's.
His oil paintings, pastels, drawings and watercolors cover a range of subjects from landscapes and seascapes to maritime and nautical images and historic architectural landmarks.
Elkins works have been exhibited throughout the Unites States and abroad. He has received two Pollock-Krasner Foundations Awards and has been an artist in residence for the Frederic Remington Art Museum in Ogdensburg, NY and the Nature Conservancy at the Andy Warhol Preserve in Montauk, NY. -
