Tessa Grundon's work often references to the topography and history of a place and its ever-changing environment. To create her pieces, Grundon uses an array of materials and artifacts relating to specific geographical locations - local maps, wax from nearby beehives, pigments from the earths, muds, plants and charcoal, or debris found along the strandlines of shores and riverbanks both rural and urban.
With these materials she creates works that embodies a sense of place, totems of landscapes she knows and loves.
This particular piece was created during Grundon's Art Residency at Wave Hill, a 28 acres estate on the Hudson River in Riverdale, New York. The natural materials she used to create this artwork were all picked up in Wave Hill's estate. The complexity of the texture in each of the squares composing this artwork creates precious individual landscapes, each with an unique sensuality and relaxing beauty.

Several collectors have displayed the "Residuums" in groups of 2, 3, or 6 pieces. You can see the visual impact on the fifth image. A discount will be considered in the purchase of several pieces. Please contact the gallery for more information.

The artwork is sold framed. The unframed size is 8"; x 8".
