Description
A falconry or hawk 6 panel screen, Japan circa 1840. Falconry has been practiced in Japan since the 4th Century. During the Edo period falconry was popular among the Shoguns. The beauty and predatory feature of the falcon - hawk, with an intense expression, made them metaphors of martial training and the warrior spirit. This is one of a pair of Falconry Screens we have, they are priced separately.
