  • Description
    Rare and fine 18th century Chinese coromandel lacquer six panels screen. This beautiful examples of carved polychromed and gilt Chinese lacquer work features a view of a mountainous landscapes on the shores of what is seemingly the Guangxi river. The scene depicts the prosperous activities of various sailing vessels on the river, the shore lined with a sinuous road featuring bridges and various building depicting the traditional life of Chinese scholars and citizens. The scene is surrounded by a beautifully decorated border depicting various precious ancient objects such as a scepter, archaic vessels, Bi disks, flowers and animals. The screen is signed with incised signature in Chinese calligraphy, the back is simply black lacquered with some gilt foliage painted decorations. China. Circa 1750.
