Fantastic Sheraton period bookcase or display cabinet or case, circa 1780. Made of gorgeous satinwood and mahogany. Beautifully proportioned, neatly sized, which makes it all the rarer and more desirable!
Probably English but found in Ireland. Display top has three glass shelves with glass front and side panels, with molding on the front glass panels. Original 18th century glass in the front and sides. Beautiful teardrop molding under the regency style pelmet. Base has two doors that open to reveal two shelves. Both doors have an oval inlaid centre cartouche banded in mahogany. Mahogany banding appears throughout the piece. Two drawers separate the top from the base, both have the original knobs. Curved feet to the base, everything says Sheraton style! This piece retains a beautiful color and richness in the satinwood, obtained through genuine aging!
Simply stunning!
