A Middle Atlantic dovetailed pine blanket chest or coffer with a single base drawer, raised on Chippendale manner shallow bracket feet; likely of Pennsylvania or possibly Shenandoah Valley origin. The brass baled pulls and escutcheons were often 'later' period enhancements; deemed preferable to wooden knob pulls. Single board, moulded-edge top; the internal metal strap hinges are proper old period replacements, but apparently succeeded earlier rectangular replacement hinges.
