André Sornay (1902-2000), French designer born in Lyon, very early on chose modernity in his creations. Its combinable furniture, very sober, with its own functional assembly system. He invented "nailing" in the 1930s and filed for the patent, brass, copper or iron nuts are visible on the frame of the structure, they serve as fixing and decoration, a process which will become his trademark. This major and avant-garde actor is the subject of various exhibitions, notably at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2004. -
