This stunning Art Deco Machine Age Sideboard was designed by Donald Deskey (the visionary behind Radio City Music Hall) and realized for the Widdicomb Furniture Company in the United States, circa 1935. It features a burled carpathian elm front with rectilinear black lacquer pulls; a bookmatched burled walnut top; black lacquer legs with a walnut apron and streamlined supports, also in walnut, pierced with cylindrical brass rods. The piece features an open compartment on each side and two drawers in the center with refinished interiors. With its clean modernist lines and iconic Art Deco motifs (and materials), this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of the period as well as those with a penchant for exquisite objects. It has been newly restored to mint condition.
