Description
Fine, early Biedermeier / Empire Secretaire in Cherry Veneer from Southern Germany around 1820.
Beautiful neoclassical form with gable cornice, well selected blonde cherry veneer on hard and softwood (oak, maple and spruce underwood).
Book-matched veneered and several ebonized parts like the lisenes and top. Original brass fittings. One original old key and iron locks.
Inside with numerous drawers and secret compartments (see images), mostly veneered in cherry wood. Fold down writing plate in cherry wood with ebonized decorative lines.
At the bottom the secretaire has two doors and an open space behind with a shelf board and a long iron lock.
Excellent restored condition with shellac hand polish (French polish).
