English Jacobean 17th Century Oak Four-Drawer Commode of Rare Form
-
Description
Large and unusual Jacobean commode, the dark stained oak and the elongated body on tall legs give it an elegant streamlined appearance. Four drawers with geometrically molded fronts and simple ring-pulls add to the understated, architectural look. Simple paneled sides and a three-board top with molded edges. The paneled back shows an inventory number in red ink, (probably a museum accession number 00.240.78) and a metal tag embossed with an other collection number (R. C. 152) both unidentified as of now. Pegged and paneled construction.
