Antique Rococo Style Venetian Secretary Cabinet with Gilt and Floral Motif
-
Description
Fantastic antique Rococo style secretary cabinet decorated with intricate botanical motif, made in Italy circa late 19th century. In original condition, the casepiece is elaborately hand-painted with golden baroque scrolls and pastel floral bouquets on an ivory background. The sumptuous silhouette is accentuated by hand-painted guilding at the curved edges and sits on ogee bracket feet. The original key opens the desk, behind a panel that folds down to reveal a spacious and functional writing surface and four small drawers surrounding a pigeonhole. Mirrored doors at the upper cabinet are a nice yet practical feature, offering the opportunity to reflect light into the room. The interior of the cabinet is lined with a luxurious scarlet damask and contains two removable wooden shelves. Additional storage is found in the three full-sized drawers in the lower cabinet. The casepiece is divided into two parts for ease of installation. A delightful statement piece that offers a flexible storage solution for the living room.
