William Hinn for Urban Furniture Sculptural Walnut Eight-Drawer Dresser
-
Description
A spectacular circa 1950 sculptural eight-drawer dresser in walnut by William Hinn for Urban Furniture, and realized by Swedish Furniture Guild. Exposed biomorphic frame of exquisitely hand-sculpted solid walnut intersects and supports a beautifully book matched teak veneer cabinet containing eight drawers. Dramatically curved front with exceptional fit and finish opens to reveal interiors done in dazzling beech, with the top two drawers having partitions. From certain angles it appears decidedly rib-like, while from others it resembles a stylized spinal column. No matter how you look at it, this is an uncommon piece of midcentury Scandinavian furniture design and craftsmanship, it is presented here in expertly refinished excellent condition.
