Description
Advertising executive George Stanley Gordon approached famed artist Alexander Calder and brought him to Braniff International Airways Chairman Harding Lawrence with a proposal for Calder to paint Braniff jet airliners as what would become the world's first flying artwork. Calder's designs for the plane exteriors were presented as multicolored gouaches. The single remaining prototype lamp from George Stanley Gordon's estate contents, along with a remaining lithograph personally signed by Alexander Calder; are hereby offered.
Lamp measurements are shown in 'Dimensions', which follow. The remaining unframed lithograph "South America with Flying Colors" measures 9" x 11.75". -
