Antique French gilt bronze Louis Philippe chandelier
French, c. 1840
Height 86cm, diameter 73cm
This beautiful chandelier is designed in the ornate style that prevailed during the reign of Louis Philippe, King of the French, from 1830 to 1848. The chandelier features a bowl wrought from scrolled and pierced gilt bronze acanthus leaves, the bowl supporting eight S-scroll light branches, each branch terminating in a gilt bronze foliate drip pan and glass lamp. The chandelier is supported by gilt bronze chains from a finely cast foliate ceiling rose. -
