Antti Hakkarainen Wrought Iron Floor Lamp, Mid- 20th Century
-
Description
This iron beauty is designed by Finnish designer Antti Hakkarainen and manufactured by Taidetakomo Hakkarainen. It has a decorated iron structure with leaf motifs and hanging ornaments, three curved legs and two light sources with a lightswitch in the middle. It has a beautiful patina all over the surface. The stem of the lamp features an extension mechanism. The details of the lamp are quite simple yet very elegant and timeless, in a sense that they suit current design trends easily. The shade has been changed, and the height of the stem is also adjustable.
Antti Hakkarainen was a master metal worker and designer and he had his own prominent company Taidetakomo Hakkarainen Oy. It was one of the main competitors to Taito and later for Idman and Orno, especially in domestic lighting although they did a few public projects. The company had a range of top Finnish designers working and commissioning lamps and other furniture there. -
