Description
This highly unusual and striking hanging light fixture featuring St. George, protector and defender of Sweden, was designed and made in Sweden in the 1920s. The upper part of the fixture features bronze sculptures of St. George spearing the dragon alternating with a young maiden, representing Sweden, all in a stylized manner characteristic of high style Art Deco design. Below the figures, a circular parchment shade features bronze mounts with stylized foliate motifs clearly showing the influence of French Art Deco, and the bottom features two disks of textured glass.
