Handcrafted, Sculptural Table Lamp in bronze and Quartz, Italy, 2019
-
Description
Dedicated to Claire Falkenstein.
The American sculptor, painter and jewelry designer was most renowned for her abstract sculptures and jewels in metal and glass/gems. In 1960 she was commissioned by Peggy Guggenheim to realize the gates of the entrance of the Guggenheim Museum in Venice, where a metal webbing was, and still is, holding big chunks of coloured glass. The image of these gates were the starting point for the three different table lamps.
For this one we designed three different kinds of double triangles to be realized in bronze, of different dimensions. These, welded together were the base where to embed our selection of stones.
We have not only used our white quartz, pyrite and dark hematite, for a very clean colour-palette , but have started to experiment with more colouful stones, as green, pink quartzes and amethists.
The rectangular shade is realized by our artisans in ivory colour silk shantung. -
