Description
This table lamp with owl and bowl by Diego Giacometti was purchased in 1990 in person by Gary Calderwood from Jean-Paul LeVerrier in Paris, France.
Jean-Paul, a sculptor in the tradition of his father, Art Deco sculptor, Max LeVerrier, had received it from his father. Jean-Paul LeVerrier and Diego Giacometti were personal friends and this lamp, together with a small round table which was not for sale, had been gifts to him from Diego Giacometti.
Letter of authenticity signed and dated by Jean-Paul LeVerrier, July 9, 1990, accompanies the lamp.
This lamp, dated circa 1980, is documented in the book Diego Giacometti by Daniel Marchesseau, published by Harry N. Abrams, NY, 1987. Page 148, titled "Lamp with owls", version 2. - More Information
