Alain Richard Wall Lamp 5980 in Black and White for Disderot. The first lamp designed by Alain Richard, the Wall Lamp 5980 defines his style: functional, elegant and simple, with a precise sense of design and proportion. Originally designed in 1953 and made with lacquered metal, it is perfect at the end of a sofa, behind a bed or next to a desk. Placed higher up, this lamp can spill light to create a diffused ambient ceiling effect. This newly produced numbered edition with an authentication certificate is made in France by Disderot with many of the same small-scale manufacturing techniques and craftsmanship as the original run.

Alain Richard began his brilliant career as a major in Arts Déco. He designed for Meubles TV, Disderot, and Mobilier National. He specialized in interiors for museums, banks, embassies, and the RER train lines. His uncluttered approach, free from superfluous decoration, while maintaining form and function, created a simple and perfectly balanced style. Alain Richard was undoubtedly the most elegant French interior designer of his generation and rightly deserves his many rewards and successes.
