Description
Designer: Donghia
Italy - Circa Early 21st Century
Dimensions: 59.5" H x 16.5" W x 10" D
Condition: Very good condition.
Introducing the Donghia “Esha” floor lamp in "ice" colorway, a magnificent piece of Italian craftsmanship that epitomizes the 21st-century penchant for blending traditional techniques with modern aesthetics. This stunning floor lamp features a column of stacked handmade Murano glass blocks that exude excellence and elegance from every angle.
The L-shaped solid glass blocks, fashioned in an "ice" clear pulegoso (bubbled) Murano glass, create a mesmerizing puzzle of light and reflection, resembling a frozen waterfall of light. The unique pulegoso technique introduces myriad bubbles into the glass, lending the lamp an effervescent quality and a dynamic texture that plays with light in captivating ways.
The lamp’s base, stem, hardware, and rectangular finial boast a polished black nickel finish, providing a sleek and contemporary contrast to the ethereal quality of the Murano glass. This interplay of materials is a testament to Donghia’s design ethos, where each element is carefully chosen to contribute to the overall harmony of the piece.
Included with the lamp is a rectangular taupe silk shade, a choice that complements the coolness of the glass with a warm, diffused light. The lamp is designed to hold two standard base light bulbs, with a maximum of 100 watts each, allowing you to adjust the level of brightness to suit your ambiance needs.
The practicality of the piece is heightened by the pull chain on/off switch on each socket, a classic feature that ensures ease of use. The brown cloth-covered cord adds a final touch of sophistication, ensuring that even the most minute details are aligned with the lamp’s luxurious feel.
The lamp measures 59.5 inches in height, with a footprint of 10 inches by 8 inches, while the shade is sized at 9 inches high by 16.5 inches wide and 10 inches deep. This floor lamp by Donghia is not just a source of illumination; it is a statement piece that marries the artistry of Murano glassmaking with the precision of modern design, perfect for those who seek to add a touch of timeless elegance to their living space. -
