Elegant French Art Deco Chandelier in Brass and Braided Glass

This magnificent Art Deco chandelier was realized by the legendary workshop of Ercole Barovier in Murano- the island off the coast of Venice renowned for centuries for its superlative craftsmanship- circa 1940. It features six billowing sculptural shades in textural striated clear glass that connect to cylindrical brass supports with channeled streamlined ends. These brass forms connect to two brass supports of the same form positioned above them via streamlined braided glass demilune arms. The pair of channeled brass embellishments on the upper tier are anchored to the skyscraper style canopy with an orbital embellishment via cylindrical brass arms at a diagonal. With its beautiful glass quality (by one of the period's most esteemed makers) and clean modernist lines, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Art Deco to contemporary. Quite simply, this chandelier represents the sensibility of Ercole Barovier in its most distilled and iconic form- sure to delight discerning collectors of the period as well as those with a penchant for exquisite objects. It is a well documented design of Barovier, in excellent vintage condition. It has been newly rewired to American standards. The chandelier accommodates six candelabra based bulbs offering up to 360 watts of light. The height can be adjusted to suit.
