Pipistrello Table Lamp by Gae Aulenti for Martinelli Luce
-
Description
Gae Aulenti created this icon of modern Italian lighting design for Martinelli Luce in 1965. Inspired by the ribbed curves of a bat’s wings, the Pipistrello’s white shade is made of the then-innovative material methacrylate, giving off a diffuse light. The base is black-lacquered aluminum out of which telescopes a stainless steel stem that allows the height to be adjusted from 26 to 34 inches. This eye-catching lamp would enhance interiors both minimal and maximal.
