Italian 18th Century Hanging Lantern
-
Description
An Italian tôle lantern from the 18th century with gilded, rococo motifs on dark metal housing. Crowned with a gilded finial to symbolize a burning flame, the theme continues down the patinated roof of the lantern as palmette garlands. The elliptical glass windows are highlighted by gilding, and the interior also reflects a golden aura to disperse the light of a single bulb. While the modern convenience of electricity might have displaced lanterns like these, the enchanting design leaves an impression anywhere around the home. Cleaned and wired for US electrical using UL listed parts this chandelier is ready to be installed. Please view all of the detailed images for the current condition and unique features.
