Ceiling lamp model AE 37 manufactured by Itsu in Finland in the mid 20th century. Displaying their own version of the iconic "starry sky" design, meant to portray a night sky full of stars. The lamp is in beautiful original condition, with the original coat of turqoise paint to give it a more modern look. The patina on this one is just mesmerizing.
This design has been incredibly popular due to it being easy to integrate into almost any interior. And as reads in the catalogue picture "kuivia tiloja varten" , meaning these were meant for "dry spaces", so not on balconies and so on.
Itsu was one of the leading light manufacturing companies and a daughter company of Idman. Along with companies like Taito Oy, Idman and Orno they defined what Finnish design lamps would become. It made high quality lamps and produced lamps for major projects, including some of Alvar Aalto's projects like the Aalto University.
