The world of lighting design today is vast. The industry has moved in a direction which is more akin to sculpture and art than just the utility of light. This movement without a doubt has deep roots in the Mid-century Modern design era with companies such as Koch and Lowy. Their expansive portfolio of work is filled with forward thinking modernist design such as this adjustable task lamp.

Koch & Lowy designed with very fine materials and in the case of this cantilevered task lamp, their “solid brass” motto comes to light. This light has gorgeous patina throughout which indicates rich signs of history without compromising the piece’s overall structure or functionality. The design continues to work as it was originally intended; a counterweight allows for the adjustable head to cantilever itself outward offering focused light on your work. The lamp is also equipped with dimmable lamping controlled via a turn switch. The design of this piece is so minimal it is almost primitive, this level of functional simplicity is only achievable by Koch & Lowy.
